Destroying Your Comfort Zone—The Path Toward Change

We’re often told to step out of the comfort zone, to do new things and widen our horizons. This often comes off as a motivational platitude, a promise of how breaking out of old habits can change your life for the better.

But what is the comfort zone? And how does breaking out of it do you any good?

The Comfort Zone

The comfort zone is essentially a psychological state of being. There are certain behaviors and actions that fall within our comfort zone, wherein we are used to the idea of carrying them out. Whatever routine you follow on a daily basis is firmly entrenched within your zone of comfort, as it is easy for you to go through the motions with little to no mental stress.

However, acting within this zone day in and day out can hold you back from progress and personal growth—it can hamper your bid for achieving success in life and making transformations.

For this reason, it’s important to push yourself beyond the limits of your comfort zone, to break out of it in order to explore new heights and perform according to your true capabilities.

Break Free and Uncover Your True Potential!

The comfort zone is associated with consistency and routine. When we are operating within it, our stress levels are at our lowest. However, while this may seem like a good thing, our productivity as well as our creativity are greatly hindered.

When we do something that is beyond the bounds of our comfort, it results in a stress response. For this reason, we tend to play it safe, preferring to avoid the fear associated with these elevated levels of stress.

However, this stress can be good for you. It can push you past your comfortable limits of productivity and lead you to perform better in both personal and professional avenues. By challenging your personal limits and fighting your usual lifestyle, you set yourself up to embrace change rather than reject it.
