A Roundup of the Best Outdoor Activities to Try After Summer

The COVID-19 outbreak might have robbed you of your summer travel plans, but fall’s all yours—we hope. Fall in Orlando gives you the opportunity to enjoy perfect weather; it’s neither too hot nor too cold.

Orlando is also home to a variety of luxury vacation home rentals that are conveniently located near the city’s best attractions. Here are some outdoor activities that you can enjoy after being cooped up all summer.

Visit an island

The US is home to numerous islands, from Maui in Hawaii to Long Island in New York. Many of these island destinations allow visitors to kayak and paddle board across their calm waters. And if you’re in the mood for some physical activity, you can even play beach volleyball.

Orlando’s Wekiva Island is a one-stop-shop for every island activity there is. There’s even an outdoor bar with live music. Make sure you don’t forget your sunscreen, though—it may be fall, but Orlando is consistently sunny.

Go to a farm

There are many orchards and farmlands across the States. While it’s a melting pot of cultures today, Central Florida was once mostly farmland. And you’ll still find some incredible farms if you look in the right places.

Orlando’s Long and Scott Farm is close to Mount Dora, and can make for a fun fall day trip. It even houses a café and an adventure park called Scott’s Maze Adventures.

Picnic at a park

Some parks are legendary; think Central Park and the Great Smoky Mountains Park. Who doesn’t love a picnic in a park—it’s idyllic, and beyond calming. It’s also an inexpensive way to spend the day in the city, eating sandwiches and barbequing while basking in the fall breeze.

And if you want to get some exercise, set out on a bike during a colorful fall day in Florida. Orlando’s Urban Trail is a bike path that makes its way through some of the city’s most beautiful parks, including Loch Haven Park and Mead Gardens.

Go for a pub crawl

Gather your friends and set out for a night around the town. There’s nothing that’s quite as refreshing as crisp fall air.

Walk along Orlando’s Sanford Riverwalk, and experience a scenic stroll at night, illuminated by city lights. Walk past the sailboats on the river to pubs and restaurants like Wops Hops and The Smiling Bison—and make sure you enjoy your drink(s)!
